Day two started at the Machia ecological reserve just outside of Villa Tunari. The mountain reserve is host to capuchin monkeys, yellow monkey and howler monkeys in addition to pumas and numerous bird and insect species.
First stop for us was the monkeys. One had a good search in my pockets (they were emptied into a [...]
Well two weeks ago now A, S,L, C and I set out for Villa Tunari, Chapare on a Friday afternoon. We took a mini bus down and arrived at around 9 pm… without S’s camera!!
After running after the cab to no avail we girls hopped in a cab to the hotel… of course the driver [...]
Hola!
Yes, its been a while since the last post – sorry! Over the past week or so I’ve been working at the orphanage to set up a craft centre for the kids. I have a room and a schedule, and if you check out the last update you’ll see there are some fundraisers happening to [...]
As you may have noticed its been two weeks since my last post! This is because I’ve begun work at the orphanage and, I’m not ashamed to say, the first week was very difficult. The conditions here are better than I expected overall but, in other ways, far worse.
The children drink water directly from the [...]
Every so often I stumble across a purchase which makes my heart race and my blood pump to the tune of “have to have it, have to have it, have to have it…” and so it was with this. The concept – a simple laptop bag; hardly something to get excited about, but this bag [...]

Paloosa is the sweet puppy that lives at the family house where I am staying while in Cocha. When I arrived she and her boyfriend (novio) Pigeon were constantly together, sleeping and eating in the courtyard of the home.
Sadly, last week Pigeon didn’t return from one of his midnight rambles. Senora thinks he must have [...]
Well the past few days have been great. I’m living with an amazing family here in Cocha, a grandmother and granddaughter I call Senora and Andy. Senora’s daughter Pao also comes to visit everyday with her son Santi who is 9 months old and her husband Ariel who has a shop front on the street [...]
It has only been one day but already I'm experiencing the vibrancy of Bolivia - and the truffi system!
So I decided to start ordering some of my spring wardrobe last week. As with every spring, I look online to buy some great summer dresses, a few nice pairs of sandals both flat sandals and heels, some pretty cotton blouses, and a couple pairs of light wash denim or white jeans. This year I am all about the blush, coral, pale pink, rose, colour palette. Looking for lacey blouses, and white skinny jeans.
